The most unusual request was when I had literally be the test dummy for Jennifer Saunders on a portrait shoot. The photographer Matt Hoyle wanted to put a pair of water goggles on her and have a goldfish floating around inside the goggles. With no way of really knowing how this worked we tried multiple ways to fill it up with water and test it on me first. I literally drowned inside the goggles. See the image of me with the mask there
That image shows pure terror!! I’m drowning!
We decided ultimately the best way was to retouch in post! ‘Drowning your assistant’ isn’t productive for anyone! although the whole thing was rather amusing for everyone, including myself. Nothing like road testing an idea.
Matt Hoyle’s book is now out and you can see the photo of Jennifer Saunders with the mask on in that image I have attached. Unfortunately I do not have a bigger one at this stage.
The same day I got to meet another hero too.. Michael Palin! A legend indeed, and he did the parrot sketch for us!
It was a charity job of epic proportions and possibly the only time I will do free work, is if its for a charitable cause. Big thanks to everyone involved and look forward to buying a copy of the book!
